Cover art: artistic depiction of China with a radiating ‘cracks’ from the Yan Province region in which the cities of Xuchang (Cao Cao’s temporary imperial capital) and Guandu (the site of a famous battle in 200AD between two prominent warlords for control of the imperial court, and the main subject of the last act of this work) are situated. The ‘domains’ of the two mightiest warlords of that time are shaded differently, with the northern area being under the control of Commander-in-Chief Yuan Shao and the other being under the control of Excellency of Works Cao Cao.
